Nigerians expressed disappointment as their hopes of Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid winning were dashed.

The disappointment therefore did not fail to spark exchanges on the American social network, Twitter as Nigerians compared Yemi Alade’s song to Angelique Kidjo’s.

They felt that Yemi Alade is underrated and will be the first Nigerian woman to win a Grammy if she continues to concoct catchy hits.

Here are some of the comments gathered from the Nigerian internet users’ exchanges:

@TheOladeledada “Angelique Kidjo has 5 Grammy Awards. When this woman retires, she will pass Elijah’s garment to Yemi Alade and she will one day win #GRAMMYs. Congratulations Mama Evergreen of Africa”.

@Taiwolabode “This is proof that Yemi Alade should continue. His Grammy may be just around the corner”.

@Iamtopsy4real “One Nigerian artist I know will win the Grammy one day is Yemi Alade”.

@Weyimi “Yemi Alade could be the first Nigerian artist to win a Grammy Award”.

@CassiTobi “Yemi Alade is going to get a Grammy, I’m so sure. I can’t wait to witness it”.

@MychukwuEbuka9 “Yemi Alade is getting closer to the Grammys. This is the song she had with Angelique Kidjo. Listen to the lyrics, etc. The whole album deserves two Grammys. Congratulations to her.
