Controversies Associated with Mohbad

He has experienced abuse at the hands of Nigerian law enforcement. Following a raid on his flat by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) agents, he was taken into custody and held there. He was detained along with his labelmate Zinoleesky. After Naira Marley, the head of their label, intervened, the pair were freed.

Mohbad said that on September 5, 2022, staff from his record label, Marlian Music, beat him up for asking to switch managers.  Mohbad was shown with a bruise on his shoulder in a tweet that included a video clip, and voices could be heard in the background of another video claiming that he was assaulted and overpowered in front of label owner Naira Marley, who did nothing to stop it.
