Who Is Ned Nwoko?
Prince Ned Nwoko was a former member of the house of Reps, representing the Aniocha North and Oshimili North south constituency, from 1999-2003.
In January 2020, the philanthropist pioneered a malaria eradication scheme, which he undertook in Antarctica, making him the first African to visit the Antarctica southern pole.
Early Life and Education of Ned Nwoko
Ned Nwoko was born on 21st December 1960, at Idumeje, Ugboko, Aniocha. He is a native of Delta State. He began his education in Nigeria, later migrated to the University of Keele, Staffordshire, where he studied law and History. Still not satisfied with his first degree, he moved to King’s college London, where he bagged an LLM in Maritime and Commercial Law. Mr Nwoko became a certified lawyer, after this, and practiced at the Lincoln Inn.
After he was done with his education, he started his own law firm in London, UK., “Ned Nwoko’s solicitors” law firm which he founded at the age of 24 specialized mainly on international conflicts and Matrimonial Laws. The firm was said to be one of the biggest law firms owned by a foreigner in the UK. Mr Nwoko was also once a serving member of the house of Reps.

Nwoko began his legal career with a brief start at crown prosecution service and qualified as a solicitor of the supreme court of England and Wales. He worked at Kumars Solicitors and Pascaldiers & Co Solicitors before establishing Ned Nwoko & Co Solicitors in London.
Nwoko was secretary general, Nigerian legal practitioners UK, Member of the Law Society, England and Wales and was visiting adviser, citizens’ advice bureau, based in London. At the peak of his legal sojourn in UK, he had the biggest black law firm in England and was recognized as the best black lawyer of African descent in England 1995
Political Career of Ned Nwoko
Ned Nwoko made the majestic entry into the political space, when he was elected as member of the house of reps from 1999-2003.
The former lawmaker, who represented the Aniocha/Oshimili Constituency Delta state, was not a light weight in the legislative chambers. He authored the move to stop monthly deductions from state treasuries.
Ned Nwoko sued the Nigerian government, at that time, for unlawfully deducting from local government councils’ allocations, requesting for refunds. He eventually won the case, with a $3.2 billion verdict, granted in his favour.

Ned Nwoko, who is a devout Muslim has six wives, and many children. Amongst his wives, are two of Nigeria’s finest actresses, Regina Daniels, and Laila Charania.

The mansion built by Ned Nwoko in his hometown is considered one of the biggest in Nigeria. Its magnificent structure earned it the name “Castle in the air”. According to reports, the mansion has its private zoo for housing animals such as Horses, monkeys, ostriches, crocodiles and others, a livestock farm that rears over 5000 poultry, a tennis court, and a swimming pool.

Through his foundation, Prince Ned Nwoko Foundation, he has contributed to the empowerment and education of youths of his constituency, senatorial district and state. In 2019, he donated $273,000 (N100M) for the rehabilitation of failed portions of the road linking the Southeastern Nigeria to the nation’s capital, Abuja.
