Tobias Dorzon was born Bloi-Dei Tobias Dorzon on 23 November 1984 (age 38 as of 2023) in New Carrolton, Maryland, United States. He is the son of an immigrant father and an American mother. Their names are unknown, although Dorzon’s father is a Liberian who worked as a chef for 50 years and owned a West African-styled restaurant called Kendejah in Washington, D.C., and his mother was a homemaker.

Tobias has ten siblings, including an elder sister named Kendejah. Unfortunately, Kendejah died in 2004. The star developed an interest in cooking while young because his father was a chef and owned a restaurant. However, he went to high school and played football before graduating in 2003. Then, he started at a junior college at Lackawanna Junior College and later attended Jackson State University. Dorzon admits he would always cook while attending college at his apartment in Jackson, Mississippi. After university, he played football in the Canadian Football League and National Football League for two years. In 2012, Tobias went to study culinary at the Art Institute of Washington. He then left for Brazil for three months to continue his culinary studies.

After college, Dorzon joined the NFL and played for the Tennessee Titans for a few months before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for one year. After the NFL, he went to Canada to play in the Football League.

He joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and played with the team for two years. But even playing in the NFL, Dorzon discovered an inherent passion for cooking.
