Who Is Daniel Petry?
Daniel Felipe Petry is a convicted Brazilian murderer. He went viral worldwide for abusing and killing a boy called Gabriel Blumenau Kuhn on July 23rd, 2007. The victim was his neighbour.
He was a teenager when he came into the limelight in 2007 for killing a 12-year-old boy over a little internet scam. The boys loved playing video games together. Daniel had a history of violent outbursts at the slightest provocation due to mental conditions. He murdered his friend after a small video game disagreement.

Gabriel Kuhn and Daniel Petry were close friends. They met through an online game called Tibia and spent time together because they lived in the same neighbourhood in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
Gabriel once borrowed 20,000 Brazilian Real (BRL) from Daniel (around 1.75 USD at that time) to buy virtual currency for Tibia. When Daniel asked for the electronic currency Gabriel had promised, he withheld it and disconnected him from his virtual contacts.
On July 23rd, 2007, Daniel called Kuhn’s mother, Nova Trento, in frustration at 9:30 am. She told him that she was not at home and her son was in the house alone. Daniel visited Kuhn’s home that morning. Gabriel hesitated to open the door until Daniel assured him that he only came to iron out their disagreement over the online game.
When Daniel got into the house, he locked the door and ruthlessly assaulted and molested Kuhn. When Gabriel threatened to tell his parents about the molestation, Daniel strangled him with gaming system cables from the house while beating him till he lost consciousness.
Petry thought Gabriel was dead and tried to hide the body in the attic. Since it was heavy, Daniel began to cut the legs off using a knife from the kitchen and a saw from the garage. After one or two strokes of sawing, Kuhn regained consciousness and began to scream in agony. Daniel kept sawing harder and faster until he cut Gabriel’s legs off. By this time, Kuhn had lost consciousness again due to shock. He died sometime later when Petry chopped his torso in half. He beat the body a few more times and carved Tibia’s symbols into Kuhn’s chest. Daniel dumped the body under a hallway crawl space and left the legs next to the hacksaw in the corridor.
Gabriel’s brother found his brother’s body when he got home and cried out for help. People in the neighborhood contacted the authorities. Investigators examined the scene and found Daniel and Kuhns’ virtual arguments when they logged onto Gabriel’s video game console. They registered the device as definitive evidence.
Daniel was arrested after admitting to committing the murder but denied assaulting him sexually. Gabriel Kuhn’s autopsy revealed that he was s*odomized severally. During the sentencing, Daniel told Judge Pereira that he punished Gabriel for conning him and would follow him to hell to hold him accountable. He received a 3-year jail term and was admitted to the Juvenile delinquency centre.
Conclusion
Daniel Petry suffered from psychiatric challenges growing up. His family sought medical attention, but he only attended a few sessions and abandoned the treatment. Petry loved online gaming, television and the internet. He spent most of his time playing games and watching TV. The boy would skip lessons to play video games with friends.
Do we have to blame this act of misdeed on his acclaimed psychiatric challenges? Who can say, but still no one deserves to die in such a dreadful way.
